Opened in 2017, the Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre hosted many events including the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and is the home to the AFL’s Gold Coast Suns.
It is a multipurpose venue with two indoor halls, 15 multisport courts and continues to host a range of sports like basketball, netball, futsal, badminton. The centre is open daily to the community for sport, fitness and leisure activities, with state-of-the-art facilities and versatile meeting rooms and corporate event spaces.
Brisbane 2032 use:
The Gold Coast Sport and Leisure Centre is earmarked to host the Olympic judo and wrestling, and the boccia for the Paralympics, with 7,500 spectator seats including temporary seats.
While there are no major works required at this facility as part of the Brisbane 2032 infrastructure program, shortly before the Games, the venue will be prepared for hosting Brisbane 2032 events.
All venues are being considered within the 100 Day Review into Games infrastructure and planning.
