The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) is a premier destination for large-scale national and international conferences, exhibitions, concerts and sporting events. That includes hosting the Netball and Basketball at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Located just 500 metres from the beach, close to a range of transport and accommodation options, GCCEC is Australia’s largest regional convention centre. Facilities include a massive main arena, four exhibition halls, a range of meeting rooms and outdoor spaces.
Brisbane 2032 use:
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is earmarked to host the Olympic volleyball preliminaries and weightlifting, with up to 6,000 spectator seats in each competition hall, some of which are temporary.
While there are no major works required at this facility as part of the Brisbane 2032 infrastructure program, shortly before the Games, the venue will be prepared for hosting Brisbane 2032 events.
All venues are being considered within the 100 Day Review into Games infrastructure and planning.
