View the Barlow Park Project Validation Report Summary. Construction is expected to commence in late 2025 with the upgraded stadium anticipated to be ready for community use in 2028.
Barlow Park in Cairns will receive major upgrades to sporting and spectator facilities to meet the needs of the growing community. This includes the upgrade of the existing stadium, increase seating capacity to 5,000, sustainability features, improved amenities and better equipment for athletes and the public. This major upgrade will support Cairns to attract major events in the future, such as NRL matches.
Brisbane 2032 use:
Barlow Park in Cairns is earmarked to host the football preliminaries with 20,000 spectator seats (15,000 of those to be temporary seats).
