View the Chandler Sports Precinct Project Validation Report Summary. Precinct upgrades are expected to commence in 2025.

The Chandler Sports Precinct, part of the Sleeman Sports Complex, was originally built for the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth Games and has been a community use and competition venue for 40 years.

With many sports facilities on site, including being the home to Gymnastics Queensland, the venue includes an Olympic standard BMX SuperCross track and the international competition standard Anna Meares Velodrome.

The new Chandler Indoor Sports Centre will provide legacy value for basketball and gymnastics training and events, as well as community facilities for volleyball and other sports. The refurbishment of the Brisbane Aquatic Centre will bring it up to Games standards and enhance its legacy value.

The precinct upgrades will improve the accessibility and connectivity throughout the precinct. These upgrades will make the venue more equitable and usable for all.

Brisbane 2032 use:

The Chandler Sports Precinct is earmarked to host Olympic and Paralympic track cycling and BMX racing, with up to 5,000 seats at each venue (some temporary).

While there are only minor works required on the BMX and cycling facilities as part of the Brisbane 2032 infrastructure program, more substantial work will be carried out in the broader precinct to improve connection and accessibility to all venues.
